What differentiates us from other corporate finance houses is that we work with our clients to create exceptional tech projects and companies. Leveraging both our experience and our network we can add that last detail which turns a good project into a great project. When needed we also work with our clients to create a tech project or company from the ground up. We can start from conception through to design, structuring and implementation.

Tax Incentives

Funding for tech companies and projects can be subject to tax relief under schemes like the Enterprise Investment Scheme and the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme.

Other tax incentives such as Business Property Relief can used to provide an inheritance tax shelter for investors. We have experience in using these and other tax incentives.

Phil Woolas

Phil Woolas is a British politician and businessman based in London and Manchester. In 1997, Phil was elected as Labour MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth. He joined the Tony Blair Government in 1999 and  in 2008 he was promoted to be the Minister of State for Immigration and Treasury.

In 2011, along with former Liberal Democrat MP, Paul Keetch and former Conservative MP, Sir Sydney Chapman, Phil founded the political consultancy, Wellington Street Partners Ltd. WSP Ltd specialise in political risk analysis, environmental businesses, especially innovative low carbon products, Local Government Finance, Housing and infrastructure finance and Pension Funds. The company provides analysis, statute and political advice, customer introductions and, through its association with investment bank, NSBO Ltd, access to investment financing.  

Paul Thompson

Paul Thompson is the founding partner of Prosper Capital LLP and has been involved in raising capital to support young businesses for the last 25 years. He was a founder of Dover Street Capital Limited in 2001 that raised over £60 million for film and commercial property funds.  He founded Capital Exchange Limited, an FCA regulated advisory service that matched angel and institutional investors with small investors before selling it in 2000. He was also a partner of Cygnus Venture Partners, a £50 million venture capital fund specialising in start-up and early stage funding and helped the early development of key companies including Biocompatibles plc, Deltex Medical plc and Axis-Shield plc. He has a broad experience of British industry having served on the boards of companies in diverse sectors such as oil services, medical instrumentation, specialised foods, leisure and financial services.

Max Chmyshuk

London-based finance professional Max, has over 15 years’ experience across corporate and investment banking, structured finance, alternative credit, and financial technology. Max has over 10 years experience in structured products and derivatives across origination, structuring, and sales functions at international banks Citigroup, Gazprombank, Dresdner Kleiwort, ING followed by an entrepreneurial journey of co-founding and building Fleximize – a now-prominent fintech platform and alternative lender focused on UK SME space. The company has grown to 40+ employees, delivered over £100 million in loans to British businesses so far, and has won numerous awards in the process. 

Angus Thompson

Angus Thompson is a financial services lawyer who worked at law firms Herbert Smith, Bird & Bird and Howard Kennedy before moving in-house to Capita plc as Head of Legal for Capita’s financial services division (now Link Asset Services).  He has experience of FCA regulated work both listed and unlisted as well as private equity and a diploma in EIS.

At Prosper Capital, Angus helps individual businesses and funds raise money from investors while complying with their obligations to the FCA. Angus has helped to raise over £200 million for small businesses over the last 5 years and has particular expertise in crowdfunding, EIS and funds in the technology, green energy, property and media sectors.

 

Brian Baker

Brian has over twenty-five years’ experience and involvement in the bridging and short-term property funding market both as a commercial broker and as a lender. Throughout his career, Brian has developed key skills of underwriting and due diligence of all loan submissions, team management and motivation and negotiation skills to achieve stated objectives. 

Brian’s  has many highlights in his career, notably doubling the loan book at Hope Capital in two consecutive years, introduced new innovative products, setup and established lending in Scotland and established internal procedures for underwriting loans to make the completion of loan quicker. Brian also volunteers for ‘The Paperchase Trust’, a charitable organisation that helps people struggling with official documents, and other financial paperwork and documents.
